Jo: And today's expression is neckandneck. Neck and neck.

Oliver: 脖子和脖子，Jo，為何大家要在節(jié)目里說(shuō)脖子的事情？

Jo: Well, we use this expression in sports or in competitions. So if two people are neck and neck it means they are at the same level or in the same position.

Oliver: 啊哈，我了解了，譬如說(shuō)假如有兩輛賽車在跑道上奔馳，而且他們不相上下，那大家就能說(shuō)這兩輛車 neck and neck.

Jo: Or for example if you were watching a TV talent show and voting for your favourite singer.

Oliver: 沒(méi)錯(cuò)兒，譬如說(shuō)你正在看一個(gè)電視歌唱比賽，象《超級(jí)女聲》或者《快樂(lè)男聲》什么的，兩名選手在同一時(shí)刻獲得相同的票數(shù)，那大家就能說(shuō)。

Jo: They were neck and neck.

Oliver: 這個(gè)短語(yǔ)在中文里的意思就是，并駕齊驅(qū)。

Example

And the horses are coming up to the finish line. They're neck and neckneck and neck all the way. Oh and the Italian horse Mamma Mia wins the race!

Oliver: 大家聽(tīng)到了一個(gè)賽馬評(píng)論員的聲音，這個(gè)短語(yǔ) neck and neck 就是從賽馬比賽當(dāng)中產(chǎn)生的，neck 指的是馬頭，在一些很接近的比賽里面，裁判判斷勝負(fù)的規(guī)范就是哪個(gè)的馬頭在前!

Oliver: Well I think we'd be neck and neck in that race Jo!
